Your songon acoffee cup
Somebody buys a coffee. There's a code on the sleeve. They scan it, and your song plays. You get paid a penny.
WHY A PENNY IS THE NUMBER
- A streaming play pays about
- $0.003
- A scan pays
- $0.010
- Difference
- ≈ 3×
The money is the smaller half of it. A stream can be a playlist running in an empty car. A scan is somebody who saw a code, pulled out their phone, and decided they wanted to hear music. That's a listener, not a number.
HOW IT WORKS
- 01
Make your FriendsGroove page. It's free, it takes a few minutes, and it's where your music, your listeners, and your earnings live.
- 02
Pick up to three songs for the beta. Whatever you'd want a stranger to hear first.
- 03
We print the codes. They go on coffee sleeves, pizza boxes, bakery bags, and market stalls at our test locations.
- 04
Someone scans. Your song plays on their phone, with your name and a way back to you.
- 05
You get paid. A penny per scan, accruing through October 31, paid out at the close of the beta.

WHAT WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR
Your rights. You keep everything you walk in with.
Exclusivity. Keep your music everywhere else it already lives.
A commitment. Pull your songs any time, for any reason, no explanation needed.
Money. There's no fee to sign up and no fee to take part.
When the paid platform launches, beta artists come along automatically on founding-artist terms. If you'd rather not, tell us and you're out — no term, no lock-in.

Set up your artist page on FriendsGroove and opt into the beta. That's the whole application — we'll email you once we've listened.
