SCAN AND GROOVE
FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS

≈ 3× A STREAMING PLAY · YOU KEEP ALL YOUR RIGHTS

Get paid when people actually choose to listen

Scan and Groove puts a scannable code on coffee cups, sleeves, boxes and bags in real shops. Someone waiting for their order scans it and your song starts playing on their phone. That is a person who deliberately chose to listen — and you get paid for it, every single time.

The maths, plainly

PER SCAN
≈ $0.010
What a scan pays you.
PER STREAM
≈ $0.003
Typical streaming payout.
DIFFERENCE
≈ 3×
Per deliberate listen.

A streaming play is often a shuffle, a background playlist, or an algorithm filling silence. A scan is a person picking up a cup, noticing a code, and choosing to point their camera at it. Those are not the same listener, and we do not think they should be paid the same.

What you keep, and what we handle

  • You keep every right to your music. Non-exclusive, no transfer of masters, no publishing grab, and you can leave whenever you like.
  • You keep your existing releases everywhere else. Scan and Groove sits alongside streaming, not instead of it.
  • We handle your artist page, the scan playback, the payouts, and the reporting on how many people heard you.
  • We handle the human review. Every artist on the roster is listened to by a person, which is what keeps this a real independent roster rather than an upload dump.
  • We handle the shops. You do not need to know a single cafe owner — we place the codes.

Why offline discovery works

Online, you are competing with every other independent artist for the same feed, the same algorithm and the same tired ad inventory. In a shop you are competing with nothing. There is one code, one moment of curiosity, and one song — yours. The listener is not scrolling past you; they are standing still, waiting for a coffee, with nothing else to do.

That is also why the follow-through is better. People remember where they were when they heard something. A song that arrived on a cup in a shop they like carries a story with it, and stories are what turn a play into a fan.
